One year ago today we were in a hotel room in New York, later in the day we were sitting in central park. Little did I know that that day would change the rest of our lives. One year ago he asked me to be the one person he wants to share the rest of his life with and I ever so subtly obliged. Although there is no wedding date or any plans of a wedding any time soon, I could not be happier. Our lives have changed (for better and worse) throughout the year and we learned to appreciate each other a bit more.
I never thought that at the age of 18 I'd fall in love, much less with my best friend. I never thought that at the age of 23 I'd be laid off twice, move out to then move back home, begin my bachelors, have a dog, and be engaged. It's not nearly half the things that have happened but it's the things I'm happiest for. Through the most significant times in my life the dude has been there, he's always been at my side through the good and not so good. Thanks to him I got my sh*t straight, thanks to him I didn't sink when my boat was nearly full, thanks to him I am the woman I am today. I'm at my best and happiest when we are together.
The fact that we've been FRIENDS for 10 years and in a relationship for 5 years is the strangest feeling in the world. The day we are no longer in this world we will have known each other longer than our best friends and I wouldn't have it any differently. When this relationship began I wanted a big white wedding, and today I am just happy with having him by my side until the day I no longer exist. It's him and his love that count, not the wedding.
So with this I say, thank you for being my shoulder, rock, cheese to my macaroni, the pain in my rear, but most importantly for being my dearly beloved. Happy first engagement anniversary!

What up, what up
At first I complained because I felt like I wasn't needed and come June I feel like I don't have enough hours in a day. What gives? I'm not really complaining though because it means I'm occupied and I LOVE it. So here's what I've been up to and why it's been so quiet.
My duty as MOH becomes more and more hectic the closer the wedding gets. Slowly but surely I'm getting into the swing of it and it's fun. Although I love weddings I must say that the more classes I take on gender the less I want a wedding of my own. Yes, I'm engaged but must I really have the whole shebang?! It's so much stress and for what? $15,000 of debt and months of planning for 8 hours you won't remember. No thanks, gimme the money and allow us to spend it how we please. Plus, has anyone noticed how ads only bother to sell us the wedding but nothing on the actual marriage? The more classes I take on gender the more confusing life becomes but man is it interesting and exciting.
Speaking of gender, have I mentioned that I decided to do a double major: English Lit/Women Studies. I have this passion for sexuality and how we perform our gender and the way we perform it so effortlessly or how we try to avoid it yet we are still marginalizing ourselves. I love it. We are indeed strange creatures but beautiful creatures nonetheless. School's kicking my butt and it's painful but it's worth it.
So here's what you missed in May and June (so far):

A "Wedding Countdown Celebration" was thrown for the lovely couple you see below.
I've know this dude for 11 years, he's like the brother my parents never gave me. I love him like if he was blood.
We went to Dis-nay for Memorial Day weekend and acted like responsible and serious adults (as shown below).
June 4th I got to see my FAVORITE Singer-Songwriter: Dallas Green aka City and Colour
Summer starts next and I can't believe my birthday is 6 months away. Any summer plans?

The Sound of Silence
Enough with all the silence!!! Finals had me running all around Miami AND I got a new job. SURPRISE! I gots me a job at the university.
You guys is it just me or is time literally flying by? Last friday I went to my "sisters" 13th bithday party and I couldn't believe she was a teenager. She got her eyebrows done for the first time and had her school friends over. Now they're all teenagers too and it was insane how much I missed holding her when she was a baby. Mostly I miss holding when she fell and cried, or just cried and I could make her pain go away. Now she's a 7th grader and soon I'll be that shoulder that she cries on when her heart is broken for the first time. I don't like thinking about it because it makes my own heart hurt a bit.
In the personal front, things have been good. We're getting better little by little. It's been a rough few months but things are looking up.
Enjoy some pics of the last few weeks.
- Calliope being lazy in the summer sun
- Our first baseball game @ the new Marlins Park. Lucky for them, they won.
- This is baby Lauren and I. She's a teen. :(

11 Things
It's been a little while but I'm having such a blast reading these I decided to one of my own with no one to tag. :(
If anyone reads this, feel free to do it and let me know.
11 Things
1. Post these rules.
1. Describe your perfect day, who would be there?
2. If you could do one thing that would be felt worldwide, what would it be? (stolen from Danielle)
3. What is your favorite book of all time?
Like you read above, I haven't read many books but if there is one book that somewhat made me see things differently it would be The Help.
6. If you could time travel to one era when would it be and why?
7. Who taught you your most cherished lesson and what was it?
8. How did you meet your best friend?
9. What do you photograph most?
My cute little doggies. They're the most adorable dachshunds in the world.
11. If you could listen to one musician for the rest of your life who would it be?
11 questions asked:
1. If karma is real, then would like to know about your other lives?
2. Do you believe the world will magically end in December?
3. What if you get to enjoy the perfect day and you die the next day, would you die happy?
4. What would you describe as the perfect drink? (alcoholic or non)
5. What is the best meal you've ever had?
6. If you could have any house in any city that's in any country, where would it be? Why?
7. What sent always takes you to a childhood memory?
8. If your favorite store/restaurant/coffee shop closed (as in gone forever) right now and you're the only one that could save it, would you?
9. If you had $500 and it was for your rent but your favorite band of all time was coming (and it was their last tour ever) the same week your rent was due. Would you pay your rent or would you go see the band?
10. Favorite tv show of all time?
11. Describe your perfect day.
I tag: Banana, D-Nice, Becks, Ferni, Babe, and Danny.
If anyone reads this, feel free to do it and let me know.
11 Things
1. Post these rules.
2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.
3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them.
11 random things:
1. I can't seem to keep nail polish on my hand nails yet my toe nails keep a color for months.
2. I LOVE creepy movies, it has something to do with watching them with my dad when I was little. Like really bad creepy movies. My favorite movie as a kid was the swamp thing and halloween.
3. I constantly buy books that I won't read just because I fall in love with the cover.
4. Confession: I'm an english major but I've barely read any books.
5. I'm good at making people do things. Don't twist it for manipulation. For example, if my fiance wants to go to the park but isn't sure about it I just make him see the pro's rather than the cons.
6. I can't seem to decide what to do in life. I jump around from teacher, to PR, to freelancer, to photographer. It's quite frustrating because I'm technically an adult who should have things figured out.
7. I was terrified of dogs until I got a schnorkie named Saya and fell in love. She ran away so we got a dachshund and named her Cali, as in Calliope not "caliente", California, or Cali, Colombia.
8. I am cuban but I can't stand most cuban people. It has to do with their chosen ignorance toward communism, democrats, religion, and pretty much everything in life. Oh, and also the machismo in most cuban men disgusts me.
9. I laugh when I'm nervous, like uncontrollable laughter. I am the worst person to have around when you fall, get stabbed, get yelled at, you get the idea.
10. I recently discovered I have an eye for photography. It's great because I've never been "good" at things. I'm the kind of person who just goes through things and there's nothing significant about it so to realize I'm good at something is great!
11. I'm 23 years young but people mistake me for a 27 year old. It bothered me at first but at the same time it's nothing to be ashamed of. I guess I'm that much wiser. lol
11 questions answered:
I would be in Salem, MA looking for an apartment in the fall with Michael.
2. If you could do one thing that would be felt worldwide, what would it be? (stolen from Danielle)
3. What is your favorite book of all time?
Like you read above, I haven't read many books but if there is one book that somewhat made me see things differently it would be The Help.
4. If you could keep any wild animal as a pet what would it be?
A white siberian tiger.5. Describe your first kiss?
I was playing Suck-and-Blow with friends in 8th grade and the guy I liked was in the circle. I, of course, was next to him and just as look would have it the card "fell" and we kissed. Yeah I know how totally Clueless of me.
6. If you could time travel to one era when would it be and why?
I'd like to go back to the 90's just so I can be this age when my favorite bands were touring.
7. Who taught you your most cherished lesson and what was it?
My mom taught me that I must always give things time. I can't hurry life because I want to be in a specific moment, I just need to let it be.
8. How did you meet your best friend?
9th grade sitting in World History
9. What do you photograph most?
My cute little doggies. They're the most adorable dachshunds in the world.
10. What do you look forward to every day?
Kisses
11. If you could listen to one musician for the rest of your life who would it be?
George Harrison. I practically do now anyway.
1. If karma is real, then would like to know about your other lives?
2. Do you believe the world will magically end in December?
3. What if you get to enjoy the perfect day and you die the next day, would you die happy?

Decisions
I've decided to give photography a full on chance. Most people who have seen my photography are taken by it and well why the heck not give it a shot. What's the worse that can happen? I don't succeed, oh well at least I'll have tried. What the next step is, I don't know but I'll figure it out along the way. I have a few photoshoots with some awesome friends so I'll take it from there. I'm excited! I think I found something I love wholeheartedly.

Thoughtful on a Tuesday
I don't know where I want this blog to go but one thing I do know, I want it to be a place for open discussion. This semester in school I'm taking some interesting classes that for the most part make me truly think and question on what type of person I will become, or, rather what ideologies I will hold dearly.
I do not want to be a person that judges quickly but rather a person who asks the right questions. I do not want to represent hate instead I want to be thought of as loving and understanding. Most importantly I do not want to be thought of as ignorant or a genius but rather someone who is well educated. I want to represent what is good in the world so that I can pass it on to those I care about and I want them to question things and want to grow. Actually, I need to grow. I don't ever want to be a victim of my circumstances instead I want to learn and move forward so that others know that we don't ever have to be at a standstill.
I am lucky to have found love very young and to be surrounded by others who love and respect me as I do them. I have yet to really "figure" myself out but I'm getting there and I guess what I'm getting to is, never feel that you are in a hurry to be someone or something else, take your time and learn about yourself and the world. As I learned today we are all self-possessed and it is not a negative thing. Be honest, kind, understanding, and loving to yourself because after all we can only be ourselves for a short amount of time.

New Year, Tweaked Resolutions
First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
So now on to my resolutions for
1/ Lose some poundage. Lately I've caught myself breathing really heavy and staying out of air faster than I used to. I started riding bike whenever I get the chance and first thing I did was kiss soda goodbye. I'm not really tweaking my diet I'm just using moderation as my key to success.
2/ Say YES. I realized that I missed out on some good memories this past year by being a debbie downer and not attending certain things. So I made it a point to say yes.
3/ Take more photos. I need to practice, practice, practice my photography. I'm really quite alright but I need to be great. I'm trying to find my inspiration and focus on one thing to excel and photography is my "thing".
4/ Visit new cities. Pretty basic, we all want to travel. This year I want to meet Florida, the real Florida. The small towns, the colleges, the swamps, the seaside plazas. I can't wait. I also want to see the Pacific so I hope we can do that.
5/ Express myself better. I've let a few relationships fizzle due to my lack of communication. Frankly I'm not a very open person but I also don't try to be, not even with my closest friends. When I am open I tend to say the wrong words or ramble (please see above to know what I mean).
So there it is guys a small glimpse of my resolutions. I have a few more but I don't want to bore you with them. I hope you all had a delicious holiday season and that the new year is kind.
